The first week of the school holidays has been a ripper, with mostly fine weather and good conditions for fishing. Offshore has been a bit hit and miss with winds and big swells at the end of last week. This week is predicted to be a bit friendlier offshore, but you’ll still need to be wary and check the weather report before heading out.

Those that did make it out have reported nice catches of Tuna and Mackerel. The rivers are finally clearing and have been delivering good catches of Flathead and Golden Trevally in the Maroochy River around Bli Bli. Crabs are still in good supply, with Mullet frames and heads the best bet for bait.

With the weather starting to cool, water temperatures will drop, welcoming the start of the Snapper season. New in store, the HP Tackle Triple Assist Frothy Ocky with some mullet strips will prove irresistible to a hungry Snapper!

The school holidays have seen many a keen beginner throwing in a line to try their luck. We’ve had lots of eager new anglers in store recently and our best advice is to not over complicate things. A basic, easy to use spinning combo is perfect to learn with. There’s no need to spend lots of money on expensive rods and reels - it is better to work on your skills and patience first! Perfect your casting, knot tying and baiting before moving onto bigger and better things!

If you need some advice on where to start, head into our store at 311 David Low Way, Bli Bli.  We can help you with your first setup, or your 50th! You can also check out our range on our online store at www.baitmasterfishing.com.au.
