Sunshine Coast Fishing Report | Thursday 11 May 2023

Welcome to another edition of Bait Master Fishing and Tackle’s Sunshine Coast Fishing Report. We hope you've been able to avoid the wind and reel in some great catches this past week. As always, we're here to provide you with the latest info on what’s biting and where. With the recent run of poor conditions continuing over the last week, our report is a little shorter than usual. Fingers crossed the weather turns soon and we can all get back out there!

Offshore

Before the wind picked up this week, offshore fishing was on fire. The water temperature has remained high at around 24 degrees, but expect a big drop in temps in the coming weeks. Mackerel and Tuna can still be found in good numbers. Snapper Pearl Perch, Grassy Sweetlip, Amberjack and Venus Tuskfish catches have been reported off Caloundra and around the Gneerings and Barwon Banks.

Estuary

Noosa and Maroochy rivers have been fishing well this week, rewarding those anglers who have braved the windy conditions. Some big Flathead and Jewfish were landed using live baits and swimbaits. Bream have been thick and are taking just about anything on offer. Frozen prawns and strips of squid have been the most successful bait options.. For those fishing with soft plastics, try a lightly weighted Ecogear Bream Prawn or Atomic Plazos Grubs. Hardbodies including the Jackall Chubby Floating or Pro Lure XS36 Crank have been claiming the rewards.

Freshwater

There has been some great Bass catches over the last week, with reports they’ve been caught in the smaller run-off creeks. Pro Lure Clone Prawns have been claiming plenty of quality Bass.
